Media Release - Grande Prairie Airport Salutes Its Region
Media Release January 26, 2010
Grande Prairie Airport Salutes It's Region The public will notice a colorful front curb when visiting the Grande Prairie Airport these days. This week the airport raised a total of 21 flags on the curb at the Air Terminal building to salute the many municipalities of the region that make the Grande Prairie Airport the success it is today.
"After completion of the parking lot and roadway expansion last year we decided the look was too cold and typically drab like many airports of our size", indicated Brian Grant, CEO. "We wanted more color to welcome people and after consideration of many different alternatives from more flowers in the summer to colored lighting in winter a staff member came up with the idea of flying colors". "We began contacting municipalities in our service region and found a terrific support for providing flags".
As a result the airport is now flying the flags of 21 municipalities to welcome travelers to our facility. "We have flags from all areas of our region including Chetwynd and Fort Nelson in Northern BC., to Grande Cache in the south, Valleyview in the East, High Level in the North, and all areas in between" concludes Mr Grant.
The Grande Prairie Airport is proud and appreciative of the regions we serve. Even if you are not flying in the near future we encourage people to come out on a breezy day and witness the majestic display.
